I barely remember
my life without "V" being a part of
it. The Original Miniseries aired for the first
time in 1983 as I was approaching my tenth birthday.
I remember watching it with my family and being
so incredibly fascinated by the show! Some things
never change, eh? The Final Battle followed about
a year later and V: The Series premiered on October
26. I'll never forget that day! I was such a crazy
kid when it came to "V"...and I admit,
I'm just as crazy about it now. I remember recording
the audio onto tapes and listening to it whenever
I could (explains why I know *every* single line
Julie ever spoke!), watching the show over and
over on the VCR, reciting it whenever anyone would
listen (or *not* listen, ha!) and acting out scenes
with my sister. Yup, I was always Julie and she
was Diana ("you need an attitude adjustment
my dear!"). Ah, the good ole' days of "V"!
Although the
story in "V" was a space story and revolved
around alien beings, I tend to agree with something
that Faye said on the DVD: "...more than
anything it's a human story..about people banning
together." That is a very accurate statement!
Of course I loved the alien lizard storyline (don't
ask how many pet lizards I went through!), but
I really appreciated the relationships as well.
I admit to being a romantic at heart and I was
lulled in by the blossoming relationship between
Mike and Julie, something the writers could have
done *SO* much more with but completely failed
at resolving anything. I was sad when the series
ended (for I was losing my idol!) but, at the
same time, I rememeber how cheezy the show became.
There are episodes today that I won't even watch!
Years later when I found out that Faye planned
on leaving and Julie would have been killed, I
was all the more thankful that the show ended.
I honestly think that killing Julie would have
traumatized me as a child. :)
To this day,
"V" remains my favorite show of all
time! I have to commend Kenny Johnson for the
wonderful characters that he brought into my life
so many years ago. Recently, a dream came true,
when Kenny published his new novel, "V: The
Second Generation." I still look at that
book on my shelf sometimes and wonder if it's
real. :) Thanks, Kenny!!!
Dr.
Julie Parrish
There are few words that can describe just how
much I love the character of Dr. Juliet Parrish.
Before I decided to relay the site, there were
a few pages from the old site that I wanted to
keep and my Tribute
To Julie page is one of those pages. Please
note that if you click on the link, a new window
will open. Perhaps I will relay the page in the
future, but for now, every word on that page remains
true. Quite simply, Julie Parrish just rules.
:-D
Here is a YouTube video that I made as a tribute
to my all time favorite hero! :) I hope you enjoy
it!
Mike
and Julie
Hmm...I guess to use "Xfiles" terminology,
I am a ""shipper" of Mike and Julie!
:) Although the writing of these two wonderful
characters spiraled downward, I am still very
much a big fan of the relationship that Mike and
Julie shared. "V" fans all across the
world have varying views on the relationship between
these two characters. I think one thing most of
us do agree on is the fact that the relationship
wasn't handled correctly! It just seemed to disappear
in V:The Series and I found that very disappointing.
However, the good news remains: there are a lot
of Mike and Julie fans out there and that equates
to a lot of great fan fiction! Two of my favorite
stories are linked on the left side of this page.
Pretty much anything that Tamie writes is amazing
so check out her writing if you haven't already
done so!
Also, the writing in the "V" books
is fantastic! I am a huge fan of the original
"V" novel and "V: Death Tide."
These books rule! :D
